Insulation Removal

Safe, dust-controlled removal of contaminated, damaged, or outdated fiberglass and cellulose insulation — including rodent-soiled material. We do not remove asbestos or vermiculite; we'll refer you to a licensed abatement company if those are found.

What it is, in plain English

Old insulation hides problems: rodent contamination, mold from roof leaks, and decades of compaction that's killed its R-value. We remove standard fiberglass and cellulose insulation cleanly using commercial-grade vacuums, contain the work area with plastic sheeting, and prep your attic deck for a fresh start. We do not remove asbestos-containing material — if your home has vermiculite or any insulation that tests positive for asbestos, it must be handled by a licensed abatement company. We're happy to point you toward one and pick up the project after abatement is complete.

What's included

  • Commercial-grade insulation removal vacuums
  • Plastic-sheet containment around attic access points and HVAC returns
  • Proper bagging and disposal at licensed facilities
  • Sanitization treatment for rodent-contaminated attics
  • Referrals to licensed asbestos testers and abatement companies if vermiculite is present (we don't handle abatement ourselves)
  • Photo documentation before, during, and after

Frequently asked

Will dust get into my house?

We take real steps to keep it out: we seal off the attic access with plastic sheeting and run vacuums that pull air out of the space rather than push it in. Some fine dust is normal with any insulation removal, but the goal is to leave your living space as clean as we found it.

How long does removal take?

A typical 1,500 sq ft attic takes 4–6 hours for removal. If we're also doing air sealing and re-insulation the same day, plan on a full day.

Do I need to leave the house?

No, you're welcome to stay. Most homeowners barely notice we're there.

What if my attic has vermiculite or asbestos?

We do not remove asbestos-containing material. If we suspect vermiculite (common in pre-1990 homes) or any other potentially asbestos-containing insulation, we'll stop work and recommend you have it tested by a certified asbestos testing service. If the test comes back positive, the material must be removed by a licensed asbestos abatement company — not by us. We're glad to refer you to reputable testers and abatement contractors in the Omaha area, and we can pick up the project (air sealing, re-insulation, etc.) once abatement is complete and the attic is cleared.
